Job Summary

This position is an embedded counselor role within the multicultural center. SCS is the primary designated mental health service on campus and functions as a comprehensive counseling center for a campus population of just over 20,000 students. The center prides itself on proactive efforts to enhance the mental health of individuals, groups, and the campus community as a whole, and has a longstanding reputation for innovation and excellence in the full range of counseling center functions.

The Multicultural Center (MCC) is a vibrant hub for student connection, community, leadership development, wellness, and engagement at Illinois State University. Through programs, services, and scholarship, the Center creates opportunities for students to thrive academically, personally, and professionally while fostering a strong sense of belonging. Serving thousands of students annually, the MCC supports holistic student success through leadership initiatives, innovative and educational experiences, wellness programming, and community-building opportunities.

With over 40 student organizations regularly using the MCC, it is considered a home away from home. The MCC features student organization offices, meeting and event spaces, gathering areas, wellness-focused environments, and a podcast/media studio.
