The museum offers a unique workplace where friendly and creative staff members work together to build a museum atmosphere that welcomes every visitor. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, motivated, energetic team member who values the arts and is dedicated to protecting our priceless works of art with the utmost care and attention.
Representative Duties- Safeguard the museum’s art collection and facility while the pieces are on display.
- Provide accurate information about the museum to visitors with courtesy and professionalism.
- Contribute to a welcoming and accommodating atmosphere for guests.
- Ensure guests follow safety guidelines for the protection of art, building, staff, and visitors.
- Aid museum staff as directed by Super‑visors during events that may affect the collection or facility.
- Work with museum staff and visitors daily in a team‑oriented manner.
- Show flexibility to work weekends, nights, and occasional holidays.
- Operate two‑way radio and observe proper radio etiquette.
- Assist with set‑up and take‑down of equipment for museum functions, special events, and other programs.
Required
Education:
GED/High School Graduate
Skills:
- Effective use of a two‑way radio for broadcasting and receiving information.
- Strong teamwork and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Fluent English communication—speaking, reading, writing—clear and concise.
- Build rapport quickly with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Excellent public relations skills.
- Willingness to wear and maintain uniforms and adhere to grooming standards.
- Excellent observational skills.
Certifications: None
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of climbing, crouching, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and repetitive motions.
- Move, touch, and manipulate objects including hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Communicate and hear detailed information orally and perceive color, depth, or clarity.
- Stand and move for several hours at a time.
Departmental Preferences:
- Experience with art or museum environments.
- Security experience in a public institution.
Supervision: No supervisory duties
