    OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education.

    Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement.

    The admission counselor position manages new undergraduate student recruiting in a North Texas, designated territory, develops and executes recruiting strategies and activities, and participates in admission application review and processing. This person also interprets admission policies and procedures and responds to all manner of questions regarding admission from prospective students, parents, high school and college counselors, alumni, OU faculty and staff, colleagues and the public.

    There is a strong cultural emphasis on customer service.


    ** We're currently looking for a new team member for our Central Texas region to serve as an Admissions Counselor. This position is remote and will reside in the Austin area. **

    Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

    • 36 months experience recruiting students for college programs, student services, or other closely related experience in a higher education environment.

    Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months related experience.

    Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Must have exceptional communication skills, both written and oral and strong public speaking skills
    • Must be able to work successfully with a diverse group of students, parents, faculty and staff
    • Must be highly organized; able to work independently and establish and meet deadlines while working with a high volume of assignments
    • Strong analytical skills required
    • Must value being part of a team and be able to work in partnership with others
    • Must have a professional manner and appearance
    • You will meet with prospective students, families, alumni, and high school counselors at events which will take place at schools, designated locations, college fairs and on campus

    Certifications:

    • Valid driver's license to attend schools and events.
