The Dodge Family College of Arts & Sciences Academic Advising Graduate Assistant ProgramThe Graduate Advising Assistant opportunity is designed to provide interested individuals with a meaningful academic advising experience. Selected individuals will welcome students to OU and meet with them 1-on-1 for their first academic advising appointment.
Responsibilities- Assist students in confirming their declared academic major
- Assist students with enrollment questions and procedures
- Assist the DFCAS advising team as needed with questions about college-based minors
- Refer students to university resources to enhance academic performance and success as necessary
- Be able to respond to student questions about the University of Oklahoma
Required Education
:
Bachelor's degree. Must be a current OU Graduate Student enrolled in the Spring 2026 semester
. Enrollment will be verified before employment is offered.
- Must attach Spring 2026 OU class schedule
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
:
- Positive rapport-building skills with students and the DFCAS advising team
- Able to read and interpret university policies and procedures
- Able to solicit, collect, and analyze academic information for accurate advisement to students of appropriate requirements, courses, and majors
- Organized and detail-oriented for the accuracy of student data and information
- Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with OU enrollment resources such as degree check sheets, Classnav.ou.edu, and ONE.ou.edu preferred

- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone
- Must be able to engage in repetitive motions, communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception, and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally
