Job Description

This is a Federal Work Study position at Norman Public Schools - Indian Education in Norman, OK.

Location: Norman Middle Schools, High Schools, and Indian Education Office

Math Tutor Duties

• Provide math tutoring to students in grades 6th‑9th.
• Students: 4‑6 per day, 30‑minute increments, two times a week during the school day (8:30‑4:00).
• Complete orientation upon hire and begin tutoring thereafter.
• Receive training, tutoring resources, and administrative support as needed.
• Monitor student progress by recording progress reports for each tutoring session.

Training

• Orientation to ensure comfort with curriculum and resources.
• Additional training throughout the semester, e.g., CPR/First Aid, child abuse reporting.

Job Requirements

Required Education
:

• Currently enrolled in the Spring Semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
• Verification of current student status required.
• Background check performed by Norman Public Schools Indian Education.
• Attach ONE Spring 2026 class schedule

• Must have received and accepted a Federal Work Study award for the Spring semester.

Skills

• Previous tutoring experience (preferred, not required).
• Fluently read, write, and speak in English.
• Enjoy working with children.

Department Preferences

• Preferred degree in Mathematics or related major.
• Schedule flexibility to accommodate operational hours.
• Physical Abilities: bend, stoop, occasionally lift, and involve in physical activities.
