- Respond to patient inquiries regarding medical bills, insurance claims, account balances, payments, and financial responsibilities.
- Answer and respond to inbound telephone calls, emails, and other patient communications in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist patients with resolving billing questions and account discrepancies.
- Explain payment options, insurance processes, and patient financial responsibilities.
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with insurance-related inquiries.
- Process payments and deposits received from auxiliary hospital departments.
- Review and process patient financial assistance and charity care applications in accordance with established guidelines.
- Initiate and submit patient refund requests to the Finance Department for processing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient account information.
- Collaborate with patients, insurance companies, hospital departments, and other stakeholders to facilitate accurate and efficient billing processes.
- Maintain compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and all applicable policies and procedures regarding the privacy and security of protected health information.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. - Experience with medical billing procedures.
