Assistant in Training

The AIT and Assistant Manager role is to fulfill our mission of “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” They perform sales, merchandising and operational tasks including cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures and routine cleaning. The AIT works with Store Manager and Leadership to develop sales, recruit teammates, train and motivate.

Sales

Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet guests, provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions and recommend merchandise.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs with additional items.
  • Share product knowledge and sales education.
  • Maintain knowledge of promotions, payment policies and security practices.
  • Seize opportunities for impact on teammates’ presentations with Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service across front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms and register area.
  • Know exchange/return procedures and turn into showmanship opportunity.
  • Fill out and effectively use SPG daily.
  • Meet or exceed standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.
  • Investigate expansion of guest selection through inventory manager.
  • Build good guest relationships, lead by example with high level showmanship.
Team Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals and Teammate Recommend.
  • Coach and build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred.
  • Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation standards.
  • Maintain positive floor culture.
  • Demonstrate personal dress code.
  • Participate in daily setup, training and performance tracking.
  • Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks set by Store Management.
  • Coach denim showmanship and fit cards insights.
  • Create results in department and balance DM actions within segment.
  • Execute actions from department calendars and track on Weekly Delegation Worksheet.
  • Demonstrate leadership actions during segments.
  • Engage guests with product.
  • Communicate with leaders and teammates.
  • Recall guest names.
  • Show merchandise benefits.
  • Partner with Store Manager to delegate store education focus.
  • Assist Store Manager in recruitment of all store staffing needs.
  • Explain pay and Buckle benefits.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Own zone ownership and exhibit recognition to assign zones and projects to teammates daily.
  • Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos for zone ownership.
  • Partner with Store Manager for delegation and review of 4 zones.
  • Enforce visual standards and visual library.
  • Recognize merchandising opportunities and recommend solutions.
  • Give informational store tours.
  • Ensure sales floor size and new freight display.
  • Improve visual results via Performance Tracker.
Operations
  • Work flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Use planner for opening and closing checklists.
  • Watch for security risks and handle theft scenarios.
  • Follow loss prevention guidelines daily.
  • Execute POS procedures.
  • Handle corporate calls appropriately.
  • Maintain positive attitude with guests and teammates.
  • Understand payment, return and loss prevention policies.
  • Navigate all tools on home page.
  • Give guidance and feedback to all non-sales positions.
  • Complete scheduled shifts and cover when needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized and shoppable store.
  • Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns.
  • Report policy violations and concerns to Store Manager, District Manager and Human Resources.
  • Apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies.
  • Complete new hire paperwork.
Supervisory and Leadership
  • Give and receive feedback from peers and management.
  • Support Leadership.
  • Promote personal and store growth.
  • Maintain professional relationship with teammates.
  • Execute daily interviews for team development.
  • Problem solve and overcome objections.
  • Self-educate on company tools and share knowledge.
