- Organize and supervise the entire cheerleading program, including all practices, competitions, and travel.
- Demonstrate successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
- Maintain substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principals.
- Provide leadership in staff meetings, clinics, and conferences to ensure consistent program philosophy and skill development.
- Supervise assistant coaches, review staff performance, and provide professional growth recommendations.
- Assist the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and logistics for tournaments and special sport events.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for state and system eligibility, physical examinations, and parental consent.
- Manage equipment budgets, procurement, storage, and inventory, ensuring all items are adequately marked and maintained.
- Implement public relations activities: coordinate parents, coaches, and players for preseason meetings; promote the program through media, booster clubs, and community outreach.
- Support student athletes in academic and personal development, monitoring grades and conduct.
- Address injury protocols, medical care, and emergency procedures for athletes.
- Adhere to good sportsmanship, mental health practices, and community representation throughout all events.
- Ability to organize and supervise a comprehensive sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned major sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the sport’s technical aspects.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and incorporation of new theories and procedures.
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Reports to the Athletic Director and collaborates with high school principals.
- Assists in state and system compliance: athletic policies, eligibility, safety regulations, and budgetary responsibilities.
- Maintains records for equipment, injury logs, and financial expenditures.
- Coordinates with school facilities and maintenance staff to ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
- Handles all documentation related to player eligibility, physical exams, parental consent, and equipment inventory.
