Temporary Laborer - Facilities – City of Norman
This job classification has been designated as a safety-sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in delivery, warehouse, custodial, or inventory roles preferred, but not required.
- Ability to safely operate a City vehicle, including small trucks or vans.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes of supplies (typically 25-50 lbs).
- Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with City staff.
- Basic record-keeping ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow a scheduled route.
- Deliver custodial paper goods, cleaning materials, and other assigned supplies to City facilities and departments on scheduled routes.
- Load and unload supplies from City vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Maintain delivery logs, inventory sheets, and basic documentation as directed.
- Communicate with departments regarding delivery needs, shortages, or special requests.
- Assist with organizing and restocking supply areas within the Parks/Facilities warehouse.
- Follow all City safety procedures, including safe driving practices, lifting techniques, and equipment handling.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work involves driving City vehicles, loading/unloading boxes, and moving between indoor and outdoor environments. May involve exposure to weather conditions when loading or unloading materials. Standing, lifting, bending, and carrying required frequently.
Hours & ScheduleSeasonal/Part-time, 2-3 days per week, approximately 4-6 hours per day. Schedule may vary based on departmental needs.
Additional InformationSelected applicant must pass background investigation, physical examination and drug screen. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
