The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a growing mechanical building services contractor based in Birmingham. This is a hands-on project delivery role with additional involvement in estimating, project costing and pre-construction support. The successful candidate will take ownership of mechanical building services projects from initial tender and procurement stages through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
Projects are delivered across the retail, leisure, healthcare, office and wider commercial sectors throughout the UK. This role would suit a mechanically biased Project Manager with strong commercial awareness and previous experience managing HVAC and mechanical installation packages, while also supporting pricing, variations and tender reviews. Key Responsibilities Manage mechanical building services projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover Oversee HVAC, plumbing, ventilation and pipework installation packages on commercial projects Support estimating activities including reviewing enquiries, pricing variations and assisting with tenders Produce and manage project programmes, procurement schedules and labour planning Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance to ensure profitability targets are achieved Prepare technical submissions, RFIs, progress reports and project documentation Attend site meetings and provide regular updates to Directors and senior management Coordinate commissioning activities and ensure projects are delivered to programme and quality standards Review drawings and technical specifications, with AutoCAD knowledge beneficial Travel to project sites across the UK as required Requirements Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Manager within the building services sector Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical installations including HVAC, plumbing and ventilation systems Experience managing projects from tender stage through to completion Commercial awareness with estimating, cost control or tendering experience advantageous Ability to manage multiple projects, programmes and stakeholders simultaneously Strong communication and organisational skills Willingness to travel nationwide when required Company Overview Our client is a well-established mechanical building services contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering design, installation and maintenance solutions across the UK.
