Job Role – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a state-of-the-art, fully automated manufacturing facility in Wakefield.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of automated production machinery. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime and ensuring production runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across automated production machinery.

Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out effective fault-finding.

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.

Complete reactive and planned mechanical maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work proactively to identify potential equipment failures and improve machine reliability.

Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing and adjustments across a range of production equipment.

Support continuous improvement and engineering projects across the site.

Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

Previous mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.

Experience carrying out planned, preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance.

Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment.

Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Technician within the UK manufacturing sector.

Experience working with automated production machinery.

Experience with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and other mechanical systems.

Experience working within a high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
