Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operator with strong expertise in excavating and installing underground sewer piping. The ideal candidate will safely and efficiently operate equipment to support our sewer line repairs, replacements, and installations while ensuring minimal disruption to properties and adherence to all safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mini-excavators and related machinery for digging trenches, excavating around utilities, and site preparation.
- Install and align underground sewer piping, including connections to main lines, manholes, and related structures.
- Perform precise excavation around existing utilities (water, gas, electric) to avoid damage.
- Assist with shoring trenches, back filling, site restoration, and cleanup after job completion.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, perform routine maintenance, and report any issues.
- Follow blueprints, grade stakes, and project specifications for accurate work.
- Collaborate with plumbers, crew members, and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and company protocols, including confined space and trenching safety.

Requirements
- Proven experience (3+ years preferred) as an equipment operator in excavating and underground utility installation, ideally with sewer/water lines.
- Extensive knowledge of excavating techniques and installing underground sewer piping.
- Proficiency operating mini-excavators and other relevant equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and utility locates.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform demanding tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications a plus.
