Staff Accountant

Base Pay Range: $60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established financial policies and procedures. This role plays an essential part in maintaining the general ledger, assisting with month-end close, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Process vendor invoices, match coding, and ensure timely payments.
  • Maintain vendor files and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Prepare customer invoices, apply payments, and maintain AR aging schedules.
  • Assist with collections and customer billing questions as needed.
  • Prepare daily cash receipts and monitor cash balances.
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan account reconciliations.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure transactions comply with accounting principles and company policies.
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
  • Recommend and support process enhancements to improve efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation of new systems, tools, or workflows.
  • Support cross-functional teams with financial information and analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (Quick Books, Net Suite, Sage, etc.) a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
