Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.
The Operations and LTL Assistant Manager will oversee and lead drivers in their day-to-day activities to ensure timely, safe, and efficient operations.
Hours and Wages- Exempt salary position
- Starting wage: $60, based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role
- Assist in overseeing and ensuring all day-to-day branch operations are completed
- Track and manage daily department reports
- Enforce safety, DOT, and company policies
- Analyze route performance to ensure it is being performed properly and freight is distributed appropriately
- Identify and implement measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, work methods, and customer service
- Participate in organizing and leading weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Hire, train, discipline, and onboard new staff
- Some travel may be required
- Perform other required duties as assigned
- Ability to build, motivate, and lead a high performing team
- Excellent management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving results
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Operations Management or related field preferred
- May be required to obtain or hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license
- 1+ years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferred
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
