TEACHER – DAYCARE (FULL‑TIME) – JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute
OverviewThe Head Teacher is responsible for planning and effectively executing an educational program in line with the center’s curriculum, goals, and philosophy at Palisades Medical Center. The position oversees daily plans for the assigned age group and guides group teachers, creating a safe and nurturing environment for children’s physical and developmental needs.
Responsibilities- Planning, scheduling, and implementing the daily curriculum.
- Coordinating use of shared classroom and outdoor space.
- Assessing children’s developmental needs and planning appropriate activities.
- Teaching life‑skill activities such as eating, self‑dressing, and hygiene.
- Maintaining progress notes and developmental records.
- Supervising staff, delegating tasks, and fostering assistant teachers’ growth.
- Ensuring equipment and materials are accessible, appropriate, and in good condition.
- Assessing spaces for safety and suitability.
- Maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for staff and children.
- Acting as center leader in the absence of the director and assistant director.
- Communicating with parents and teachers to support children’s development.
- Submitting the weekly written outline of planned activities.
- Reviewing group teachers’ lesson plans.
- Assuming additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhering to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience with children under 5 years old, including at least two years in the assigned age group.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
- Knowledge of Grow NJ Kids Guidelines.
- Experience with Creative Curriculum.
- Experience with Procare Parent Communication App.
- Adult/Child CPR and First Aid.
