Our team members are the heart of what makes us better. The Outpatient Coder I will accurately abstract data following ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines across the HMH network, and enter data into the electronic medical record system.

• Assign codes to clinical services performed for reimbursement and data collection.
• Code and abstract patient encounters, including diagnostic, surgical, procedural information, and complications.
• Assess documentation and communicate with clinicians for missing information.
• Analyze medical records for deficiencies and produce quality reports.
• Assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes.
• Apply NCCI and NCD/LCD edits.
• Maintain productivity and quality metrics.
• Report unusual circumstances or errors to management.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of coding for professional services.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and anatomy.
• Proficient computer skills, typing speed, and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Ability to achieve and maintain coding quality and productivity standards.

• Experience with outpatient ICD-10, CPT, and E&M coding.
• Registered Health Information Technician, Administrator, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Professional Coder.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.

Minimum rate: $34.65 hourly. Base compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement.
