MONITOR TECHNICIAN – INTERMEDIATE CARE – PER DIEM NIGHT

Join JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute as a Monitor Technician in our Intermediate Care unit. This per diem night position is critical to patient monitoring and telemetry operations.

• Demonstrate competence in observing the central monitor for changes in cardiac rhythm and immediately report such changes.
• Document electrocardiogram rhythm tracings in the patient’s medical record at the beginning of the shift and whenever a change occurs.
• Record cardiac rhythm in the technician log during the shift.
• Maintain awareness of patient comfort and safety, applying electrodes and maintaining telemetry units for inpatient use.
• Identify patients by name before applying or checking electrodes, verify identification and ensure electrodes are secured.
• Educate patients about the care and use of telemetry units, using appropriate techniques for all age groups.
• Keep the central monitor and individual telemetry units in proper working order.
• Prepare reports and statistics accurately as required.
• Complete weekly and monthly tasks timely and report progress to the Director or Charge Nurse regularly.
• Respond promptly to placing new patients on telemetry, anticipating needs and checking placement regularly.
• Recognize abnormal EKG readings and report them to the nurse in charge immediately.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college background preferred.

• Completion of an approved ECG course preferred.
• One year experience as EKG testing preferred.

Minimum hourly rate: $17.95. Pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Shift differentials for night shifts may apply.

Part‑time, per diem; night shift.
