Job Description
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound. Using high frequency sound waves, the technologist assists medical personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
Responsibilities
• Perform ultrasound procedures according to departmental standards, completing exams within the allotted time.
• Conduct daily clerical duties using EPIC and other computer systems.
• Carry out portable ultrasound exams and complex technical tasks.
• Prepare patients for procedures, providing explanations and ensuring proper positioning.
• Evaluate the quality of ultrasound images and maintain accurate records.
• Manage equipment maintenance and clean instrumentation.
• Provide technical assistance to students and residents, and adhere to standards of practice.
• Participate in quality control and assurance programs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required.
• Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School, along with 2 years of training in Allied Health/College.
• Proficient in breast ultrasound techniques and knowledgeable about breast anatomy and pathology.
• Must be CPR certified.
