Overview
Diagnostic Imaging Aide (Full-Time) – Palisades Medical Center, North Bergen, New Jersey
Under the direct supervision of the modality or department leader, the Diagnostic Imaging Aide coordinates the activities of the department through communication, requisitioning, and management of supplies, equipment and staff. Interacts and communicates with personnel from various departments and support services as well as the public and department co-workers. Provides administrative and clerical support to the department.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates knowledge and competency in completing assigned duties/responsibilities according to established protocols for procedures being performed.
- Has knowledge of various procedures and understands the use and implications when imaging contrast is being used. Reviews lab work values for IV contrast studies as well as medical terminology as related to patient history.
- Provides Clerical Support:
Assist other Team members to fulfill department needs (test ordering, test result processing, making copies, filing, mailing, telephone calls, film/report retrieval/printing/faxing). - Schedules guests/customers appropriately based on physician script request, history or new concern. Provides Pre-registration instructions and specific test preparation.
- Maintains patient/data management: maintains consistent records for billing and appropriate tracking (activating accounts, patient in/out, film sign-/sign/out log, responds timely to film requests); reschedules guests/patients and manages cancellations, pathology, etc.
- Provides safe direct patient care and supports technologists, radiologists/nurses as needed.
- Provides support across Diagnostic Imaging areas as needed and coordinates cases as directed by the technologist or provider.
- Greets patients and guests, explains procedures clearly, and assists with necessary paperwork.
- Reviews and completes pending report logs and fax communications; retrieves needed patient documents from the computer for Radiologist and staff; uploads external imaging onto PACS.
- Follows network policy for patient identification and assists with patient positioning and body mechanics.
- Maintains supplies, keeps rooms clean, and adheres to Falls Prevention protocols.
- Participates in continuing education and completes required E-Learning as assigned.
- Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- High School diploma, GED, or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
Skills and Abilities
Preferred
- Previous data entry experience.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification within 3 months of entering position.
- Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs, and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
