Diagnostic Imaging Aide; Per Diem

Overview

Diagnostic Imaging Aide (Per Diem) at Palisades Medical Center North Bergen, New Jersey. Under the direct supervision of the modality or department leader, coordinates department activities, communicates, requisitions, manages supplies, equipment, and staff. Provides administrative and clerical support to the department.

• Demonstrates knowledge and competency in completing assigned duties according to established protocols.
• Has knowledge of various procedures and understands the use and implications of imaging contrast. Reviews lab work values for IV contrast studies and medical terminology related to patient history.
• Provides clerical support: assists other team members with test ordering, test result processing, copies, filing, mailing, telephone calls, film/report retrieval, printing, faxing.
• Schedules guests/customers appointments based on physician script, history, or new concern. Gives pre‑registration instructions and specific test preparation.
• Manages patient data: maintains billing records, activates accounts, records film sign‑in/sign‑out log, reschedules guests, and maintains cancellation system.
• Provides safe direct patient care and assists technologist, Radiologist/Nurse as needed.
• Co‑ordinates cases as directed by the technologist or provider.
• Greets patients and guests upon arrival, gives accurate instructions, and collects required paperwork.
• Retrieves needed patient documents from the computer for Radiologist and staff; uploads external imaging onto PACS.
• Follows network policy for patient identification, assists with placing patients on and off procedure tables using appropriate body mechanics.
• Stocks and cleans rooms, records temperature, empties linen/garbage as needed.
• Observes patients in a holding area and assists in transferring and transporting patients safely; adheres to Falls Prevention protocols.
• Maintains adequate supply of materials for daily use and keeps a clean and safe work environment.
• Complies with hospital, local, state and federal regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Participates in continuing education and completes required e‑learning as assigned.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

• Previous data entry experience.

• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 3 months of entering position.

Minimum rate of $26.85 hourly. The posted rate is an estimate of the minimum base pay and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package.
