You will work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards, while also supporting business development, mentoring junior team members, promoting sustainable building solutions, and contributing to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Manage a varied portfolio of building surveying projects from inception to completion. Undertake building surveys, condition assessments, defect diagnosis, and technical due diligence. Prepare technical reports, specifications, schedules of work, condition reports, and tender documentation. Administer construction contracts and monitor project delivery. Provide professional advice on maintenance strategies, statutory compliance, fire safety, and building safety. Develop planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and lifecycle plans.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors. Attend client meetings, site inspections, and project progress meetings. Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies. Support business development by identifying opportunities within existing client relationships. Share technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Stay current with relevant legislation, technical standards, and industry best practices. Promote sustainable building solutions throughout project delivery.
Skills & Experience MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor with at least two years' post-qualification experience, or working towards chartership with a RICS-accredited Building Surveying degree. Experience in technical due diligence, condition surveys, and defect diagnosis. Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and lifecycle planning. Experience advising on party wall and neighbourly matters. Proven ability to prepare technical reports, schedules of condition, and specifications.
Sound understanding of contract administration and project delivery. Knowledge of statutory compliance, fire safety, and building safety legislation. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
