North Berwick High School is a secondary school in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, which received an excellent HMIE inspection report in June 2020. The current school roll is 1041. Strong links have been developed with the local community and a broad range of extra curricular activities are on offer. The ethos of the school is underpinned by the NBHS values of curiosity, kindness, diligence and belonging.

The Business and Computing faculty currently comprises a Principal Teacher, two teachers of Business Education, two teachers of Computing and one teacher of Business Education, Enterprise and Digital Literacy. Within the Broad General Education phase, generic courses in Business and Computing are taught to S1 and S2s, with Business Management, Administration and Computing to S3s. In the senior phase, Administration is offered to Higher level, Business Management and Computing Science to Advanced Higher level, Economics at National 5 and Higher level and Computer Games Development and Retail (with Barista) at National 5 level.

The faculty also oversees whole school digital learning and innovation to enhance learning and teaching. It is a growing faculty, with high attainment and a determination to provide appropriate pathways for all learners

This role is a unique leadership development opportunity. The successful candidate will lead digital literacy as a whole school remit, with time allocated to do so. Opportunities to develop enterprise across the school will also be part of this role, to build upon strong stakeholder links and DYW partnerships already in place.

Job Details

Teaching relevant subject through S1-S6.

Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority the duties of teachers, promoted and unpromoted, are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories-

Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
Developing the school curriculum
Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils
Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review
Contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school
