North Berwick High School is a secondary school in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, which received an excellent HMIE inspection report in June 2020. The current school roll is 1041. Strong links have been developed with the local community and a broad range of extra curricular activities are on offer. The ethos of the school is underpinned by the NBHS values of curiosity, kindness, diligence and belonging.

The Performing Arts faculty currently comprises a Principal Teacher, a Teacher of Drama and two Teachers of Music. The successful candidate will teach BGE Music, as well as certificate classes at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting learners (potentially with accompaniments) with performance exams at all levels as well as delivering music theory for these courses.

Music Technology is currently part of the BGE curriculum and will potentially become part of the senior phase in the future.

The faculty has high attainment and a determination to provide appropriate pathways for all learners. We also celebrate a strong extra-curricular programme, which culminates in our well attended Christmas and Spring concerts and our annual musical shows, with established partnerships with the Instrumental Music Service staff.

Teaching relevant subject through S1-S6.

Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority the duties of teachers, promoted and unpromoted, are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories-

Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
Developing the school curriculum
Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils
Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review
Contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school
