Cafe Assistant​/Barista;

Role Overview

Our North Berwick Café (part of our wider Bookshop and Gallery space in North Berwick) plays an important role for the Hospice in generating vital income and raising awareness of our services.

We have a new opportunity for a Café Assistant to join the team, working across both the kitchen and front of house. This will be a hands‑on role and will involve:

• Serving customers
• Displaying and replenishing stock
• Ensuring a high standard of food hygiene and consistency of service
• Creating an open, welcoming, inclusive and friendly atmosphere that reflects the values of the Hospice

The ideal candidate will have previous café/shop experience, strong customer service skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people in an often busy environment. You will have a warm, friendly and helpful manner and be able to assist others in an empathetic way. You should be approachable and able to build a rapport with volunteers and customers.

Training will be provided. Full‑time or part‑time hours are available.

This post requires the post holder to have a criminal record check (Disclosure Scotland) at Basic level. An application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before the successful candidate can begin in post. The Hospice will pay the cost for this check.
