Senior Director of Health, Safety & Environment; HSE – Operations Support

Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Senior Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) — Operations Support. As the Senior Director of HSE — Operations Support, you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive HSE strategies, programs, and systems that promote workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across Sodexo’s North American operations. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for corporate HSE governance, ISO 45001 program management, and driving a culture of safety through Sodexo’s global Zero Harm Mindset.

You will provide strategic direction to a team of HSE professionals supporting all business segments and transversal functions in the U.S. and Canada. This is a Remote role with 20% travel with the preferred candidate able to work Eastern Standard Time Zone hours.

• Strategy & Program Development:
  Design and implement HSE strategies aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
  Lead and develop a high-performing HSE team; collaborate with segment safety staff and champions across North America.
• Audits & Inspections:
  Oversee ISO 45001 program management, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; manage incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Training & Culture Building:
  Develop and deliver impactful HSE training programs; foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related sciences (Advanced degree preferred).

• 15+ years of experience in occupational health & safety, risk control, or related field
• 10+ years of management experience

OSHA 30 Hour General Industry certification

Professional Safety Certifications (ASP, STS, CSP, CSE) preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Smart Sheet, Power

BI, and HSE software/reporting tools

• Deep expertise in HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
• Strategic thinker with a track record of successful program execution
• Strong leadership and organizational development capabilities
• Skilled in Lean Six Sigma and root cause analysis
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels
