HJF is seeking a Chief of Laboratory Operations responsible for directing operations to amháin most effective use of program resources. Further responsibilities include developing and implementing operations plans and evaluating program/Branch efficiencies.

This position is a key Executive Leader within the Diagnostics and Countermeasures Branch (DCB), Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) located in Silver Spring, MD. DCB provides broad-based clinical laboratory services for US Service Members and conducts clinical/diagnostic research for development, evaluation, and deployment of infection detection and monitoring technologies as countermeasures for prevalent and emerging pathogens of US Military and National security interest.

The Chief of Laboratory Operations works directly with DCB Leadership, to oversee daily operations, implement near and long term goals and strategic vision in support of highly dynamic and fluid mission requirements, evaluate business practices and risk, develop risk mitigation strategies, and lead organizational change to ensure mission success.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners.

HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

  • Serves as DCB Chief of Laboratory Operations with DCB Leadership and Executive Committee, leads organizational change; implements near and long‑term goals and strategic vision for DCB missions.
  • Oversees major Departments within DCB to include IT, Safety, Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance, Project Management, and regulated laboratories (RAD, HDRL, LDL).
  • Evaluates effectiveness of all internal DCB systems and business practices, leads operational improvements with a focus on efficiencies, enhanced productivity, and best management practices.
  • Directsментар daily operations for laboratory groups, working collaboratively with laboratory managers and leads.
  • In collaboration with the Chief of Staff, reviews/develops annual budgets (SPL/BioR; monitors budgets with DCB Leadership to ensure compliance and that projects are within fiscal targets.
  • Reviews agreements for accuracy (CRADAS, MTAs, contracts) to ensure they represent the requirements for both parties and representative of DCB's mission objectives.
  • Leads, promotes/fosters environment of collaboration, professionalism, continuous improvements across DCB sections/teams to achieve successful strategic, clinical laboratory, and research mission outcomes.
  • Promotes effective intermural and extramural relationships with intramural and extramural military and scientific communities to advance DCB scientific objectives.
