Job Summary

The HR Business Partner – Employee Relations serves as a strategic partner to leaders and employees, providing expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and policy application. This role plays a critical part in promoting a positive workplace culture while ensuring consistent, compliant, and equitable people practices across the organization.

You will work closely with leadership to proactively address employee relations risks, strengthen performance accountability, and support engagement through thoughtful coaching and problem-solving.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Partner with leaders to build and execute an integrated talent strategy (workforce planning, performance, development, succession) aligned to business goals.
  • Conduct workplace investigations with oversight of HR leadership.
  • Manage corrective action process and attend related meetings with managers and employees.
  • Collaborate with centralized human resources team to ensure overall HR support of assigned region.
  • Promote accountability and fairness by establishing clear expectations, consistent documentation, and timely feedback.
  • Lead end-to-end performance management processes ensuring consistency, quality, and follow-through on action plans.
  • Facilitate quarterly talent reviews and calibration sessions; coach leaders in assessing performance, potential, and value-based behaviors.
  • Drive leader capability building (coaching, feedback skills, difficult conversations, performance improvement).
  • Analyze talent data and trends (turnover, internal mobility, performance distribution, time-to-productivity) to recommend actions and measure impact.
  • Assess organizational capability gaps and build development plans to close skills and leadership gaps.
  • Lead and evolve talent management programs that strengthen performance, build leadership capability, and develop internal pipelines—partnering with leaders to ensure consistent, values-aligned talent decisions.
  • Travel required:

    monthly/quarterly site visits within assigned region.
Required Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Employee Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • HR-related certifications or specialized training are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an employee relations-focused HR role.
  • Strong expertise in employment law, policy application, and compliance best practices.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated objectivity and sound judgment when balancing employee needs and business priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality—especially in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to navigate difficult conversations with confidence, empathy, and composure.
  • Strong understanding of how HR practices influence organizational culture and business outcomes.
  • Experience delivering training or presentations to small groups (virtual or in-person).
  • Knowledge of human behavior, employee motivation, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with multi-state employment law considerations.
