JOB DESCRIPTION
Conduit Assembler is responsible for assembling and fabricating conduits used in electrical systems. They follow blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to cut, bend, and assemble conduit parts. They use hand and power tools to measure, cut, and thread conduits, and then connect and secure them using various fittings and fasteners. Conduit Assemblers may also be responsible for testing and inspecting completed assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and electrical codes.
They work in manufacturing settings, collaborating with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Performs standard conduit bends and offsets
- Properly installs conduit & devices (interior & exterior)
- Accurately lays out, modifies, & installs wireway/cable tray per design
- Properly installs lighting, pipe lighting, & fixtures (interior & exterior)
- Demonstrates knowledge of conduit types, sizes, & fittings
- Properly & safely uses & maintains tools (band saw, threader, knockout)
- Reads & uses tape measure/other measuring tools
- Demonstrates ability to work from standard conduit schedule
- Wiring (i.e. anchoring, tie-wrapping, routing, flagging, and wire tagging)
- Crimping
- Wire/Cable stripping
- Adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices
- Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality
- Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma preferred.
- Typically have a minimum of 1 year of relevant wiring experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous conduit experience with both thick and thin wall conduit.
- Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Basic mathematical skills (e.g. fractions, conversions).
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Familiar with common and job-specific tools.
- Able to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read and interpret prints (e.g. specification sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, three-line and part drawings).
- Ability to perform basic point-to-point wiring.
