Key Responsibilities- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions and the trade‑in program, recommend additional items, apply all selling behaviors, and express gratitude for every purchase.
- Support the overall shopping environment: maintain visual and operational standards and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system, ensuring top‑notch service.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, including the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and merchandised store according to company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Complete daily Omni‑Channel orders and safeguard company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
- Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stock room to the front of the store.
- Manage daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system and perform bank deposits following established guidelines.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
- Adhere to all Game Stop policies, procedures, opening and closing procedures, and performance expectations.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred:
At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience; video game knowledge preferred. - Ability to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills; friendly assistance to every guest during each visit.
- Clear verbal, written communication, and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.
- Fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment; meet associate performance expectations, including attendance and grooming.
- Operate the POS computer system and complete required paperwork.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); alphabetizing skills.
- Self‑motivation, teamwork, problem‑solving, and judgment abilities.
- Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum of 3 days/week availability.
- Physical:
Bend, stoop, reach with arms/hands, climb ladders, and lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs. from ground level to a minimum height of 4 feet; stand and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Full‑time store positions at Game Stop are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions may also be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives.
Compensation$11.50 – $14.25 per hour
