Greene Resources is seeking a Utility Payment Clerk to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
- Execute monthly billing for sewer invoices, tap fees, and impact fees
- Maintain detailed records of sewer taps, impact fees, and customer changes (new and canceled accounts)
- Input daily payments into accounting software and verify deposits using Excel or other state-approved tools for auditing purposes
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve billing issues in collaboration with the District Manager
- Support monthly collections and coordinate with Brunswick County on service suspensions related to non-payment
- Create and maintain files for current and former customers, deposits, billing, and collections
- Answer incoming calls and perform general receptionist duties
- Communicate effectively with the District Manager, Finance Director, Billing Clerk, other staff, and customers
- Scan, download, and manage various maps, videos, and documents
- Shred outdated or unnecessary documents as required
- Provide administrative support to the District Manager, Finance Director, and Billing Clerk as needed
Position Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, arithmetic, and office procedures
- Proficient in operating computers and office equipment
- Ability to learn and use District accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills; ability to maintain complex clerical records and compile data
- Understanding of collection practices, customer service procedures, and revenue regulations specific to the District
- Ability to work independently and make minor administrative decisions within guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal skills; must communicate tactfully and courteously with the public and coworkers
- Some knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles is desirable
- Ability to read and interpret maps and plans is preferred
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
- Must be able to move and lift up to 10 lbs.
