Experience a summer “Where Adventure Grows!” Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to be part of our 2026 Summer Camp Team supporting our overnight camp programs across all Council properties:
Camp Mary Atkinson, Camp Graham, Camp Hardee, and Camp Mu-Sha-Ni.

We are seeking an Assistant Camp Director to support our overnight camp program at Camp Mary Atkinson. This position may also support smaller program groups operating at Camp Graham, Camp Hardee, and Camp Mu-Sha-Ni throughout the summer. Transportation will be provided from Camp Mary Atkinson to the other camp properties as needed.
Position: Assistant Camp Director
Location: Camp Mary Atkinson, Selma, NC (with travel to other Council camps as needed)
Duration: Summer 2026 (mid-May through the end of July)
Compensation: Weekly salary of $650.00, including housing and meals after training.
We’re excited to offer summer camp staff the opportunity to earn up to a $500 bonus this summer!
Here’s how it works:
- $250 Mid-Summer Bonus: Camp staff hired for the summer who remain employed through the end of June will receive a $250 bonus.
- $250 Completion Bonus: Camp staff who remain employed through the end of summer camp will receive a $250 bonus.
- Supervise Campers and Staff: The Assistant Camp Director supervises the resident (overnight) camp program including food service, programming, and camper and staff supervision.

RequirementsApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas at this time.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience in resident camps or youth programming.
- Current certification or ability to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR. Training will be provided.
- Ability to supervise staff and campers.
- Ability to relate well to others.
- Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs.
- Commitment to the aim and purpose of the Girl Scout movement.
- Ability to communicate and work with girls and adults and provide necessary instruction to staff.
- Ability to listen to others.
- Ability to observe others’ actions and respond appropriately.
- Ability to read text and information and understand it.
- Ability to comprehend instructions and manuals.
- Willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
