Clinical Coordinator/Dental Assistant – NC Pediatric Dentistry
Support system to execute efficiency and experience in the clinic. Maintains calmness throughout the day in supporting the patients, doctor, and team. The CC is fully functioning in all avenues of pediatric dental procedures and patient/parent dental education that are needed for the office location. They can direct the team in a positive way that fulfills all patient, parent, and doctor needs.
The Clinical Coordinator must have problem solving and team working skills as they navigate the flow of the schedule for patient care.
Partnering with the office Business Leader to reach goals, maintain OSHA/HIPAA/Radiation regulations, and office policies and procedures for the clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare Operative Schedule for the following day; reviewing treatment, cooperation, patient/doctor needs; bringing any “alerts” to the Business Leader and/or Doctor’s attention.
- Morning Huddle – discussing “Alerts” with team and doctor.
- Second hand for operation (supporting patient/parent/doctor/Dental Assistant when needed).
- Strategizing and executing flow of schedule, both operative and hygiene; flipping chairs, bringing patients back, starting clinical sheets, directing the clinical team, X-rays, seeing patients.
- Dental education for patients and parents.
- Discussing treatment plans and/or changes with parent/guardian; educated in our Sedation processes.
- Busy/multi‑chair offices – CC provides extra support based on the needs of the clinic; staff call‑outs – CC will flow into that chair to prevent rescheduling of patients.
- Leadership: influencing others to direct their efforts toward achievements of goals and inspire and influence attitude and behavior.
- Training clinical team: new DAs / RDH / Doctors, new process, procedures, materials.
- Compliance with OSHA/HIPAA/Radiation Safety standards and processes.
- Report concerns to Business Leader.
- Collaborate with Business Leader for office success.
- Communication skills.
- Deliver the best patient experience possible.
- Maintain and order clinical supplies.
- Look for opportunities in the schedule to complete same day treatment.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience as a dental assistant.
- Strong problem‑solving and team‑working skills.
- Knowledge of pediatric dental procedures and patient/parent education.
- Experience with OSHA, HIPAA, and radiation safety regulations.
- Ability to lead meetings and influence team dynamics.
