Purpose:
Teaching
Teach undergraduate courses in any of the following areas:
Voice, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Jazz Piano, Jazz Guitar, Jazz Bass, Drum Set, Class Piano, Class Strings, Class Guitar, Voice, Music Appreciation, Jazz Appreciation, Global Music, Rhythm and Rock, Intro to Hip‑Hop, Jazz Combo, Private Improvisation, Chamber Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Music Theory, Music History, Songwriting, Music Industry, Musical Theatre, and Dance.
Coaching, mentoring, and grading of student work is expected. Ability to develop and deliver courses, including online instruction via Canvas, is required.
- Minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in music or related field; a master’s degree in music is required. A doctorate in music is preferred.
- Demonstrated record of professional experience and success in undergraduate teaching.
- For online courses, proven ability to structure and deliver curriculum in Canvas.
- Prior experience teaching in higher education is preferred.
- Commitment to creating a rigorous and stimulating learning environment, as valued by UNC Pembroke.
