Position Summary:

The NMM/OMM Faculty is a member of the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine within Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). The faculty member is responsible for assisting the Chair of Osteopathic Medicine and the Associate Dean for OMM Integration with the development and delivery of pre-clinical, clinical, and graduate medical education curricula. Faculty are expected to engage in clinical practice according to their board certification.

This role includes faculty recruitment and faculty development to ensure the curriculum is successfully delivered to the CUSOM students and residents within the Campbell University (CU) sponsored clinical rotation and graduate medical education (GME) sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate an active and consistent commitment to the Mission of CUSOM and the vision of the Department of OMM.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of a departmental strategic plan that supports and advances the strategic plan, Mission, and vision of CUSOM and Campbell University.
  • Serve as a liaison between the medical students and the OMM Department Chair.
  • Deliver high quality education in OMM lectures and labs for CUSOM students as well as monthly call-back Friday OMM sessions and other educational sessions as assigned.
  • Provide and supervise osteopathic manipulative medicine services, through CUSOM affiliated clinics, hospitals, residency programs and outreach partners.
  • Work in cooperation with the Chair of OMM, OMM faculty, Curriculum Committee, Course Directors and System Co-Coordinators to develop syllabi and curriculum for the students of the COM, schedule courses, assign educators, evaluate outcomes, and implement a continuous quality assessment and improvement system for the curriculum of the COM, including the development of student and programmatic assessment methods and processes.
  • Work in cooperation with the Chair of OMM, Associate Dean for Osteopathic Integration, and OMM faculty, to review the outcomes of the departmentally sponsored programs on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate programs and resources to assist and promote faculty growth, development, and accomplishment in the fields of education, research, and professional service.
  • Assist with the longitudinal integration of osteopathic principles in all CUSOM sponsored educational programs from MS I through CUSOM sponsored residency programs.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Participate in the requisite number of faculty interviews of CUSOM applicants.
  • Perform assigned grading of student Standardized Patient/OSCE encounters.
  • Assure and model the advancement and integration of high standards for ethical and professional behavior in all aspects of the education of CUSOM students as well as the actions of the administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of osteopathic curriculum in Campbell University sponsored osteopathically recognized residency programs.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of osteopathic continuing medical education at local, state, and national levels.
  • Assist with the faculty development of both MD and DO educators within the CUSOM educational system as well as with inter-professional development activities.
  • Participate in faculty development and inter-professional development activities to maintain and improve teaching and clinical skills.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice to maintain clinical skills and provide educational opportunities for students and residents.
  • Work schedule includes 60%/0.6 FTE (24 hours/week) providing medical care to students, employees, and community patients of all ages at the Campbell University Health Center or other designated site.
