Job DescriptionThe Workforce Development & Continuing Education Division is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced HVAC professional to serve as an adjunct instructor. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to students enrolled in non-credit and Career and College Promise (CCP) programs. The instructor will prepare students for entry‑level employment and industry‑recognized credentials.
Full Time or Part TimePart Time
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in HVAC fundamentals, safety, system diagnostics, repair, and installation.
- Teach both classroom and hands‑on lab sessions, ensuring alignment with industry standards and program objectives.
- Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with WD&CE staff to support student success and program development.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the HVAC industry.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to student learning and workforce readiness.
- Prior teaching or training experience in a classroom or industry setting.
- North Carolina HVAC license.
- Experience working with high school and adult learning students.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, and ability to communicate. Medium work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle. Mental Application:
Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills are important.
$35 per hour
