- Teaching Philosophy – In 250 words or less, describe how you would structure one class period in one of the mathematics classes you have taught or would like to teach. Specify the course (e.g., Calculus I) and explain how you would make the class your own.
- Other Document – In 250 words or less, describe your research area in a way that is understandable for junior- or senior-level undergraduate students majoring in mathematics.
- Research Statement – In 750 words or less, provide a statement of research interests or other scholarly activities, along with a description of future goals.
- List of at least three professional references with complete contact information. At least one reference should be able to comment on your potential for teaching. PLEASE DO NOT SEND LETTERS.

* All applicants must submit an unofficial transcript of their highest attained degree, showing all completed coursework and the date the degree was conferred. The transcript must state "Degree Awarded", "Degree Conferred", or a similar phrase. Position SummaryThe Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics with the rank of Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin in August 2026. The position is nine-month with potential for summer instruction. The department has 28 full-time faculty and supports undergraduate programs in mathematics, mathematics education, and computer science. The mathematics program offers concentrations in actuarial science, applied mathematics, data science, mathematics education, and traditional mathematics.
The typical teaching load averages 9 course hours per semester, with class enrollments ranging from 35 in freshman level courses to the teens for upper-level courses. Students are actively engaged in research, contests, and extracurricular activities.
