Job Description
Teach courses within the welding program of study on a part-time basis under the direction of the Lead Instructor. This is located at Wilkes Community College’s main campus.
Full Time or Part Time (Part Time)
Include, but are not limited to:
- Teach welding courses in an effective and engaging manner.
- Communicate with students via Moodle and email outside of class as needed
- Complete course administrative paperwork in a timely manner (attendance, grades, etc.)
- Assist in creating a safe, positive, successful learning environment for students
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following:
- Welding diploma
- 3-5 years’ work experience
- Knowledgeable in welding, as evidenced by education and/or experience
- Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and hands‑on performance and be prepared in educational theory and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma in welding technology.
- Previous teaching experience at the community college level.
Physical Demands
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application:
Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills are important.
Salary Grade
Salary $31.79 for Diploma, $32.23 for Associates, $34.15 for Bachelors, $35.85 per hour for Masters degree
