Location: Roxboro

The Director is responsible for overseeing campus engagement initiatives and student activities programming, as well as serving as the advisor for the Student Government Association (SGA). This position is also in charge of coordinating large‑scale events such as Welcome Week. The Director plays a crucial role in improving the overall student experience by working with other stakeholders to create and implement processes and strategic engagements that support success in all areas, from application to student success, retention, and graduation.

Additionally, the Director provides direct management and ongoing support to student success coaches and counselors.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of various interventions to assist students with removing barriers to completion;
  • Coordinate advising plans for students for selected group of students;
  • Provide integrated and targeted support and interventions for student success;
  • Plan, coordinate, and organize mentoring activities for targeted populations;
  • Aid student’s progress through programs by connecting with campus resources, decision making strategies and processes to succeed;
  • Enforces policies, procedures, and guidelines for events, operations, and customer service, and strives for continual improvements in operation and services;
  • Directly facilitates and manages all co‑curricular student activity programs and events related to the Student Government Association (SGA), students’ clubs and organizations, and student media projects;
  • Educates the campus community about diversity and multiculturalism through offerings that highlight the contributions of diverse groups from local, state, national, and international communities;
  • Works with campus leadership in identifying vendor (and contracts) for campus programs and events;
  • Student Activities and Leadership:
    Research best practice for student leadership development programs;
  • Design and implement a program for student leadership development;
  • Promote student participation in clubs and organizations to build enthusiasm around campus life;
  • Manage assigned budget allocations and review and approve all student event programming contracts;
  • Facilitate large scale campus programs such as welcome week, and other events, as assigned;
  • Develop community service and volunteer opportunities for students.
  • Develop a diverse array of gaming and online programming that will attract participation from a broad spectrum of students.
Additional Duties
  • Serve on various committees.
  • Provide educational workshops for staff and faculty.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and faculty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides direct supervision to accessibility, career and mental wellness staff and directs activities of SGA and other student leaders. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Education, Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, or related field from a regionally accredited institution and two years of related work experience. Experience with in the NCCCS preferred;
Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience using Colleague and experience within the North Carolina Community College System.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to self‑manage time.
  • Skilled in computers, problem solving, and communication.
  • Ability to build consensus among staff and peers.
Physical Demands

This job requires continuously talking or hearing, frequently standing, frequently walking, frequently reaching with hands and arms, frequently gripping, or feeling with hands, typing/repetitive movement, occasionally climbing or balancing, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, occasionally sitting. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work primarily, but not exclusively, in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential or work hazards; however, there are sometimes stressful conditions.

Health and Safety Standards

All employees of Piedmont Community College who must enter an outside agency for the purpose of their work will be expected to adhere to the health and safety standards of that agency. This includes background checks, vaccinations, or any other requirements set forth by the agency.
