The Extension 4‑H Program Assistant will be located in Yancey County and will assist in growing a comprehensive 4‑H professional youth development program, meeting the needs of all of the county's youth, ages 5 through 18. These programs will engage youth in positive, life‑skill development activities to address issues of everyday life, enhance the community and environment where they live and give them access to high quality, experiential programming.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Maintaining accurate records for youth and volunteer leaders and assuring that the program is in compliance with local, state and national regulations— to include but not be limited to the NC State University Programming with Minors regulations and financial management— to include but not be limited to monitoring county 4‑H club accounts, charters and IRS compliance.
Minimum Experience/
Education:
The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE) is a high‑school diploma or equivalent. Advanced training in related fields is preferred.

- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to work with, interact, and respect broad populations.
- Ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteer leaders to extend youth programming to the broadest audience possible.
- Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Office).
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities.
- Ability to travel within county, district and state using a personal vehicle. Must hold a valid Drivers Licence. Valid NC driver's license is required within 60 days of hire. Personal transportation is required and must be maintained.
