The Aerospace Defense and Marine (AD&M) business at TE is a leader in developing and engineering a comprehensive portfolio of connectors, fiber optics, wires, cables, antennas, circuit protectors and moldings for harsh environments. The Senior Product Engineer will join AD&M’s Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group, focusing primarily on sustaining development. The role will report to the RFO Engineering Manager and is based at our Fairview NC plant.
Responsibilities include leading small‑to‑medium projects and managing technical elements.
- Liaison to Manufacturing in Arden and Fairview NC plant locations
- Create Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
- Make changes to drawings in CREO/ZWCAD to comply with ITAR / EAR controlled ECR/ECNs
- Address requests for product extensions, drawing changes, engineering quotes
- Handle requests to get part extended and costed in SAP
- Support Expanded Bean Product Line for changes and product extensions
- Utilize best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
- Work independently to solve problems where precedents may not exist, providing new perspectives on existing solutions
- Training or mentoring junior staff or new members
- Aide project management responsibilities in absence of the team leader/project manager
- Conduct tolerance analysis
- Create design verification test (DVT)/Qual test plans and test requests
- Support/witness testing in the lab
- Design and document DVT/Qual cable assemblies, component modeling, and print creation
- Participate in DFMEA/PFMEA
- Support design review preparation and presentation
- Manage model shop requests
- Support build or prototype part manufacturing
- B.S. in Mechanical or Optoelectronic engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years product development experience, preferably with electronic or optoelectronic assemblies, hardware, and components
- ITAR/EAR compliance: U.S. citizenship or permanent resident required
- Demonstrated teamwork skills in a high‑paced environment
- Understanding of fiber‑optic systems
- Experience sourcing components from suppliers to meet design requirements
- Proficiency with SAP
- Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn new technologies quickly
- Self‑driven and results oriented
- Ability to multitask in a matrix organization

- Strong organization skills and team player mentality
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $100,100 – $135,000 (subject to change by location)
- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith; TE may adjust ranges based on experience/qualification and internal/external equity
