Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (All Levels)

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors at all levels for our Troutman, NC office. The role involves performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, construction inspections, and field tests, while reporting directly to the field/project.

• A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
• Project field book preparation and documentation.
• Density log book preparation and documentation.
• Material sampling and testing.
• Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
• Measure distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
• Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
• Obtain and prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
• Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accept installation.
• Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
• Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities.

• Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
• Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.
• Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.

• High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
• AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
• Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self‑Study Course and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
• Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed to perform your assigned task.
