Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: Oak Island Elks Lodge

Employment Type: Part-Time – approximately 6-8 hours per week

Job Summary: The Bookkeeper for the Oak Island Elks Lodge is responsible for managing the organization’s financial records with accuracy and integrity. This role involves processing payments, balancing accounts, and performing routine bookkeeping tasks to ensure the Lodge’s financial health and compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Account Reconciliation: Balance and maintain accurate ledgers, including bank accounts and other financial records.
  • Bill Payment: Ensure timely payment of all bills, including utilities, services, and vendor invoices.
  • Accounts Receivable: Post payments received, get deposits ready and take to bank.
  • Payroll: Process biweekly payroll using ADP.
  • Financial Reporting: Review trial balance monthly for reasonableness and unusual items.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with Lodge policies.
  • Budget Assistance: Work with the Treasurer and leadership team to monitor budgets and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Audit Support: Provide necessary documents and information for periodic audits or financial reviews.
  • Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping software (especially Quick Books) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with non-profit or membership-based organization finances is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Elks Lodges or other fraternal organizations.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations related to non-profit organizations.
  • Work Schedule:
  • Monday (hours flexible)
  • Thursday (hours flexible)
  • Compensation:

    The hourly rate is $14.
