Telemetry Monitor Tech - Progressive Care Unit

Under supervision of an RN, the Cardiac Telemetry Technician assists with clinical care by monitoring and recording cardiac rhythms.

• Documents and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings.
• Identifies patient arrhythmias or significant changes and reports immediately to assigned nurse.
• Alerts nursing staff in event of arrhythmias or significant changes.
• Issues telemetry equipment to newly admitted patients and maintains inventory.
• Coordinates with outside vendor support to maintain and service equipment.
• Tracks and ensures continuity of telemetry and recording patient leaving unit or disconnecting leads.
• Ensures patient safety at all times by notifying charge nurse of any risk factors.
• Inputs clinical documentation and charges into EMR tool.
• Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by orientation checklist and annual EKG competency test.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting.
• Experience working with EPIC EMR.
• Experience or training with medical terminology.

Required:

Yearly EKG competency test.
