Summary:

The CNA Specialist works under the direction of the Registered Nurse to provide direct and non‑direct personal care to patients in the Swain Emergency Department. The position is full‑time, night shift and is located at Lifepoint Health in Bryson City, NC.

Compensation: $5,000 sign‑on bonus over a 2‑year commitment period.

Within the specialist status the CNA must be proficient in the duties of Unit Secretary and meet the qualifications of a Certified Nursing Assistant. The specialty may also include Telemetry Technician duties, with training provided on the job.

• High School graduate or GED preferred.
• Current listing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification maintained.
• Telemetry Technician role: completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course or basic arrhythmia interpretation competency training as determined by the department director.
• Unit Secretary role: completion of training in basic unit secretary tasks (transcription of physician orders, computer data entry, etc.).

• Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
• Ability to hear within normal range.
• Ability to reach overhead.
• Ability to remain calm and function effectively during stressful situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
• Ability to operate equipment and carry supplies.
• Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
