OverviewSummary:
Provide Clinical Medical Physicist services for the Radiation Oncology Department including Quality Management Program;
Radiation Safety;
Service liaison for radiation oncology equipment;
Ongoing Clinical management;
Specification / Planning for new equipment and procedures.
Implement and oversee a comprehensive Quality Management Program for all equipment and/or procedures related to the use of radiation therapy in the Radiation Oncology Dept. Implement and maintain policies & procedures related to the proper clinical use of radiation. Provide ongoing support for American College of Radiology Accreditation. Provide assistance for Department Administrator on budget items related to physics services.
Implement and oversee the Radiation Safety Program for staff, patients and visitors in the Radiation Oncology Dept. in compliance with all applicable regulations of the NC Division of Radiation Protection. Serve as department Radiation Safety Officer. Maintain Licenses and Regulations for radiation producing equipment or sources within the department.
Serve as liaison with service engineers for issues related to radiation equipment in the department. Ensure all equipment is safe for clinical use after service; repair; upgrades, etc. Provide consultation for Dept. Administrator on vendor related budget; service contracts, etc.
Ongoing clinical management for patients, including patient chart checks and calculation verifications. Provide consultation as needed for Physicians. Oversee Treatment Planning procedures and parameters utilized for calculations. Serve as resource for staff, patients and visitors to address any concerns regarding the clinical use of radiation.
Serve as department resource for specification; procurement; installation and implementation of new equipment and/or procedures. Assist with capital projections and budgeting. Serve as a technical resource for Cancer Strategic Planning.

Other information QualificationsRequired
Masters Degree in Medical Physics, Physics or related field.
Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology. State Registration with the NC Division of Radiation Protection.
Three (3) years of clinical experience.
