How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
  • Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Ensures safety and compliance.
  • Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
  • Ensures productive and efficient operations of the section and department.
  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred.
Licensure, Certification and/or Registrations:

MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.

Skills &

Qualifications:
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Technical ability and interest.
  • Computer and keyboard skills preferred.
Work Environment:

Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients. Exposed to risk of blood borne/airborne disease. Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection). Exposed to hazards for electrical/mechanical/power equipment. May be exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens. May be exposed to toxic/flammable/explosive chemicals and gases. Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment. Moderate noise environment. Subject to injury from sharps.

May require judgment/action which could result in death of patient. Subject to many interruptions. Occasionally subject to irregular hours. Subject to stressful situations.
