The EHS Lead is responsible for helping to develop, implement, and maintain environment, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance within Saks Global distribution center. This role will drive continuous improvement in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability while fostering a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and leadership.
What you will do- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, local safety and environmental regulations applicable to warehousing and distribution operations.
- Help develop and implement warehouse-specific safety programs, including forklift safety, pedestrian safety, material handling, and ergonomics.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Assist in the development of emergency response and fire prevention plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for material handling equipment (MHE), such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors.
- Assist in conducting MHE training programs for operators.
- Monitor and improve warehouse traffic flow and pedestrian safety measures.
- Assist in delivering safety training programs which may include new hire orientation, refresher courses, and ongoing education.
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to engage employees in safety awareness.
- Foster a culture of safety through recognition programs, employee involvement, and leadership engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, including incident reports, incident & safety training logs, and compliance documentation.
- Track safety metrics.
- Ability to get things done by engaging in high level teamwork and flexing your interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns, and conduct job hazard and job safety analysis with direction from the EHS manager.
- Builds morale and spirit in their team, shares wins and successes, and encourages or contributes to open dialogue.

- You are a respected and proven thought leader with a quantifiable track record of success in delivering results within a large complex organization.
- Strong computer/Google and Microsoft Office Suite skills are preferred
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills (customers being all at the DC).
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time as necessary.
