GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general direction from the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Parks & Recreation department including preparation, County recreational indoor and outdoor facilities, including playgrounds, ball fields, community buildings, and parks; plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the recreation department including youth and adult sports, special events, and aquatics;

to coordinate parks activities, recreation programs and life enrichment activities with other departments and County Counter Parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, parks and recreation, recreation administration or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Three years of increasingly responsible experience in parks management and administration, including Three years of supervisory responsibility or Five years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation planning and programming including three year of supervisory responsibility.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license

Pre-employment drug screen may be required

SALARY:

Grade 68 ($48,) based on experience + benefits
