The New Edenton Housing Authority is seeking an Executive Director who will be expected to continue the high-performance rating and excellent reputation of the agency of 100 units of Public Housing in the historical town of Edenton, North Carolina. The position is being vacated by the current director, who is retiring.
The Executive Director must have previous supervisory experience and the ability to work with the Board, to solve problems for both elderly and family residents, the general public, and vendors, and have the ability to enforce and monitor adopted housing policies. The candidate must demonstrate a high level of sensitivity to the problems and concerns of resident groups and the needs of people of various socio-economic backgrounds.
Candidates must be knowledgeable of current state and local housing laws, rules, and HUD regulations and procedures. They should possess excellent management, interpersonal, and community relations skills, as well as affordable housing strategies. It is also important that they are innovative in identifying opportunities to generate capital for housing programs. The executive director is responsible for all aspects of the Housing Authority’s operation and staff.
The successful candidate will possess a Public Housing Manager’s Certification or be committed to obtaining one within one year. They will also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field, and have at least two years of administrative experience in housing, housing management, public housing development, or a related field. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s background and experience.
