Position Summary
Person County Government is seeking an experienced and motivated Child Welfare Program Manager to provide leadership within the Department of Social Services. This is a critical management role responsible for the supervision, direction, and overall oversight of the agency’s Child Welfare teams, with a direct impact on the safety and well‑being of children and families in the community.
The Child Welfare Program Manager serves as a key member of the agency’s executive management team, providing strong programmatic leadership and actively participating in operational decision‑making and strategic planning. This position plays a vital role in shaping social work practice, guiding service delivery, and ensuring programs align with agency goals, best practices, and state and federal requirements.

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate’s educational background and relevant work experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This is an exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity;
- or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity;
- or a master’s degree in a counseling field and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity;
- or a four‑year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and five years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity;
- or graduation from a four‑year college or university and six years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in techniques of casework, group work, or community organization, two of which were in a supervisory capacity;
- or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
